Your plot gives players a reason to care.

Basic Structure

  • Beginning → introduce world and goal

  • Middle → conflict and escalation

  • End → resolution or twist

This often follows the Hero’s Journey structure.


Key Elements

  • Clear goal (save, escape, discover, survive)

  • Conflict (enemy, environment, internal struggle)

  • Stakes (what happens if the player fails?)


Keep It Practical

For your first game:

  • Keep the story simple

  • Deliver through gameplay, not just cutscenes

👉 Example: Instead of telling players “the world is dangerous,” make them experience danger through gameplay.
