Your plot gives players a reason to care.
Beginning → introduce world and goal
Middle → conflict and escalation
End → resolution or twist
This often follows the Hero’s Journey structure.
Clear goal (save, escape, discover, survive)
Conflict (enemy, environment, internal struggle)
Stakes (what happens if the player fails?)
For your first game:
Keep the story simple
Deliver through gameplay, not just cutscenes
👉 Example: Instead of telling players “the world is dangerous,” make them experience danger through gameplay.
